Join Our W.H.I.M Planning Committee

We’re looking for people who have: (1) The desire to advance the mission of A Woman’s Standard and make a positive difference in the lives of young women. (2) The passion and ability to serve, work with others, and work independently. (3) Have the ability to build sustainable relationships. (4) Have reliable communication skills. (5) Have the capacity to commit to at least 5-8 hours per month.

What is the commitment? Volunteer commitment spans from April of the current year through the end of March next year. Committee Members will convene regularly, ranging from monthly to weekly meetings as the Awards Gala approaches.

General Commitment Schedule:

  • April-December: Monthly

  • January - February: Monthly/Bi-Weekly

  • March: Weekly

  • Week of Awards Gala: Daily

  • Post-Awards Gala Meetings: 2 meetings following the WHIM Awards Gala

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be located in Atlanta, Georgia

  • Must have the capacity to commit to at least 5-8 hours per month between now and the end of March next year.

  • Must have the capacity to serve during the event

PLANNING COMMITTEE POSITIONS AND DESCRIPTIONS:

  1. Gala Chair: Responsible for overseeing the planning committee, managing the budget, supervising logistics, and collaborating with the Executive Director to ensure the gala aligns with the organization's mission. Responsible for ensuring all event day logistics are planned, coordinated, and implemented effectively. Responsible for developing, managing, and updating the master event schedule.

  2. Vice Gala Chair: Responsible for recruiting, and liaising with nominees, volunteers, and vendors to ensure they receive appropriate acknowledgment, event details, and guidance, ensuring their correct placement and timely arrival on the event day.

  3. Decor & Supplies Chair: Responsible for sourcing, organizing, and overseeing the décor and supplies needed for the gala, ensuring they align with the event theme and budget. Coordinates with vendors, manages inventory, and oversees set up to create an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for the event.

  4. Sponsors & Partnerships Chair: Responsible for spearheading fundraising initiatives and enhancing corporate involvement in the event. Responsible for sourcing and acquiring noteworthy and sought-after items for the silent auction.

  5. Community Outreach Chair: Responsible for devising strategies to engage the community, including reaching out to local schools, to increase event awareness and support through outreach initiatives. Collaborates with educational institutions, manages outreach campaigns, and cultivates relationships to ensure broad community participation in the gala.

  6. Glam Squad Chair: Responsible for organizing Glam Squad services by collaborating with external businesses, catering to the specific needs of young women attending the gala.
